    The Story Behind the Name:

Something about the moon has always captivated me. I couldn’t ever say exactly what it was, but I could stare at it for hours, but always with a strange feeling that although I was content, I was not satisfied. I loved the beauty of the moon, but something told me that its own beauty was not why I loved it. Then one day as I strolled around just after sunset, when the last rays of sunlight had just faded in the west, I noticed that the new moon was rising in the east, and something clicked inside my head and my heart. I remembered that the moon does not give off light on its own accord, but it only reflects the sun while it is hidden from our eyes, and so likewise its beauty is not truly its own, but is only a dim reflection of the glory of the sun. Truly, the moon was not created to give us light to live by, but rather to get us through the night, and remind us that the day will come again. So I realized that while the moon is indeed beautiful, and worthy to be admired, its purpose is to point to the revelation of something greater, which has already come, and will soon come again, to bring light and glory and life. And then it came to me that all of our attempts to explain or illustrate or describe or preach about the Mystery of God, which is the Gospel, are likewise mere reflections, often shrouded in darkness, of the Glory who was manifested in flesh two thousand years ago, and will one day be revealed again in all His splendor.

So our prayer is that everything which gets posted here, whether it be art or theology or poetry or philosophy, will help to illuminate the boundless mysteries of God and His Gospel, and will stir the hearts of those who read or see it to yearn more for our blessed hope–the glorious appearing of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. And we also pray that no one, including ourselves, forgets that these are simply reflections of something greater, and that all of the beauty and worth and light which they have comes only from the Source of all those things: Jesus the Christ, who is our Light and our Life.
